Question about this product. Is it possible to have two CAN buses connected? For example my Nissan Leaf has two buses, one for the EV system and another with the basic vehicle. I'd like to be able to connect to both since there is some data on each that I would need to gather. Another application that I'd like to use this for is to isolate a component on the CAN bus. I would put this device on the network in the place of the device in question, and then spoof the bus as this device. I could read the messages coming from this device and either directly re-transmit the message or I could modify the data and transmit that instead. This could be done on both messages going to and from the isolated device. This also requires two CAN buses. I'm hoping that this is how you are designing this device. Thanks, Michael

Well, this forum is not very useful if the posts never get answered. Is there anybody running the forum?

It's indeed not very active, probably because it's new and it focuses on EV conversion folks... but this Arduino improved for automobiles can really address many projects of a much broader community !

That said, the schematics show only one CAN bus. Two possibilities for you, add a second one by adding a shield (or a custom design or one, similar to the one on the Macchina). https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10039
I don't know if they are programmed the same way or not ????

There are also kits from http://www.netburner.com/ with 2 CAN bus, Ethernet, etc.... It's fancier but it doesn't have the "cool" factor of the open source Arduino huge community :-)

I moved this to a new topic where we can discuss options for 2 CAN bus channels.

Michel, cool idea. I would imagine that adding another CAN shield should work fine as long as the CS lines are hooked up right.

As a side note: 2 CAN buses is on the list of features for a future Macchina.

ok, thanks everyone for responding. I'm looking forward to the 2nd generation unit with dual CAN buss's. Or if someone finds a reliable way to add the shield, that would be interesting.
